Camera works in our Lowcountry backyard

a photographic display at Seafields (Philip Gadsden retirement community) @ Kiawah Island, South Carolina

The photographs on these hallway walls are the works of Beaufort photographer Eric Horan. A dedicated resident of Beaufort County since 1981, Eric has spent more than 50 years behind a camera honing his craft as a commercial photographer always working toward his ultimate love - nature and wildlife. His deep connection to and extensive experience working in the local environment are reflected in these eclectic works. The images and associated titles and descriptions below are ordered as: Wall #1, Middle wall (#2), and Big wall (#3)

I do hope you enjoy the images produced for your beautiful new home.

Since picking up my first camera in 1968, my work has been dedicated to capturing images that reflect a deep connection to the natural world. After early experience working with top commercial photographers in New York and decades of observing my surroundings, I transitioned from the classroom to the field to share this passion with others.

In 2009, I launched Lowcountry Photo Safaris to provide unique, hands-on wildlife photography guiding services. I lead engaging tours through the picturesque coastlines of South Carolina and Georgia, focusing on key locations including Charleston, Edisto, Kiawah, the ACE Basin, Beaufort, Hilton Head, and the Sea Islands down to St. Simons Island.

These guided experiences are designed for enthusiasts of all skill levels. Participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in stunning salt marshes and serene waterways while learning professional techniques to capture the intricate details of our region's rich biodiversity.

I always enjoy meeting others who share a passion for the outdoors and photography. I find great fulfillment in helping others reach their full potential and developing their unique vision in nature photography. (Also see: Artist’s Statement)
