Camera works in our Lowcountry backyard

The photographs on these hallway walls are the works of Beaufort photographer Eric Horan. A dedicated resident of Beaufort County since 1981, Eric has spent more than 50 years behind a camera honing his craft as a commercial photographer always working toward his ultimate love - nature and wildlife. His deep connection to and extensive experience working in the local environment are reflected in these eclectic works. Eric Horan, has worked camera in hand since working on his high school yearbook in 1968. And upon graduating college in 1970, he spent a year in New York working with some of the top commercial photographers in the world. From his early days working with a camera in hand, Eric has had a commitment to creating images that reflect his vision of the natural world around us all. The images you see are the reflections of who he is with a camera, working wherever his travels take him. “I have to trust that if an image makes it to the top of the pile, after an arduous path through the editing process and still pleases me then chances are, you will also respond favorably”.

He has always enjoyed teaching but has never like the classroom. So in 2009 he developed his photography tour business, where he can help people with, both their photo skills and those you need to be develop working with wildlife and out in nature. - “Lowcountry Photo Safaris”, where he offers unique wildlife photography guiding services along the picturesque coastlines of South Carolina and Georgia.

Horan leads engaging photo tours and adventures, focusing on key locations such as the coastal Charleston area, Edisto and Kiawah through the Ace Basin, Beaufort/Hilton Head, Tybee island, with extended explorations through the Sea Islands of Georgia down to St. Simons Island in Georgia. Each tour allows participants to immerse themselves in the stunning salt marshes and serene waterways that define the coastal landscape of the Southeastern United States.

These guided photography experiences cater to enthusiasts of all skill levels, providing an opportunity to learn professional techniques for capturing the intricate details of wildlife and nature. Participants benefit from Horan's expertise as he shares insights into the art of photography while fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich biodiversity and natural beauty of the region.
